"...Andate a Noto, datemi retta…questo è un luogo che, se uno ci capita resta intrappolato e felice, chi lo muove più...": così scriveva Gesualdo Bufalino

(25 minutes far from Casal Sikelio)

Noto, town in the Siracusa area, is to be considered the Baroque's capital all around the world; in 2002, UNESCO has declared the city World Heritage Site because of its reachness in cultural and historical terms. Noto is characterized by a great amount of squares and stairways of artistic value: the unavoidable reconstruction of the town - following the 1693 earthquake – had its positives sides since the Baroque's canons were used as the main ones, making the place unique. The local stone, preciously carved and suspended between gold and rosy colours, was used to solve the task of the repair in the last years of 17th century. Noto was often a location chosen by many directors (Antonioni, Rossellini, Tornatore and many others) for their movies. Walking on the streets of Noto is as fascinating as a cultural time travel.
